You Must Go

You cannot control the tide, the winds, or the sea itself;

The frigid water, the fiery sun;

You do not choose your soul’s passion;

Yet, you must go.

~~~
You cannot dictate the contours, obstacles, and weather of the road;
Fellow travelers, odd or kindred;
You do not choose the gravity of your route;
Yet, you must go.
~~~

You cannot know the future or unmake the past;

The fact of time, a permanent mystery;

You do not choose the timing of your arrival;

Yet, you must go.

~~~
At the beginning, you are an unwitting sojourner;
You thrash and coo through seasons of absurd injustice and undeserved fortune;
At your beginning, you awaken to find there is, but one choice:
To go now, then, or never.
~~~

You cannot control the Truth;

You cannot dictate the Truth;

And, no matter your choice to accept or reject It,

You must go.
